Vote against politicians without commitment towards provision of clean water – PROF. OBIOMA NWAOGU

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, electorates have been asked to vote against politicians without commitment or programs towards provision of clean water, sanitation and hygiene services in public places.
The Water-Aid through the Global Health and Awareness Research Foundation (GHARF) made this demand yesterday during a sensitization campaign led by Professor Obioma Nwaogu across Enugu capital city with the theme vote for WASH.
According to the Leadership of water-aid and GHARF, vote for wash campaign was conceived owing to the poor attention given to environmental issues like open defecation, availability of clean water and sanitation services as well as its effects on the masses.

Also, representative of water aid, Michael Otabor described WASH as an acronym for WATER-SANITATION and HYGIENE.
Michael revealed that water-Aid is equally advocating for a particular type of toilet system called Water Easy Toilets (WET) that are affordable, capable to reduce toilet infections and locally produced by Innoson Technical and Company.

Furthermore, the marketers in OGBETTE especially the women used the medium to called for construction of free public toilets in the market due to the high cost of using the two available commercial toilets in the market.
However, the key message of the promoters of vote for wash campaign remain that only politicians with clear program and commitment towards availability of clean water, sanitation and hygiene services in the public places like schools, markets and hospitals etc get into office after 2019 general elections.
